Our Hapu name is Te Hika A Papauma Ki Wairarapa

She, Papauma was the wife of Rakaihikuroa, who was the grandson of Kahungungu and

Rongomaiwahine

In former times the Hapu bounderies extended from the north at Akitio along the coast line down

towards Whareama there by following the river inland to Taueru, from Taueru inland through the

mountain range, Maungaraki to the Puketoi range to Pongaroa and from Pongaroa back out to Akitio
